“Americans are scrambling to learn a language that is now spoken by many of the 35.3 million Hispanics in the United States.” Deborah Sharp says in a USA Today article (http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2001-05-09-spanish-usat.htm written in 2001. 9 years later, there is even more Hispanics living in the world and Americans must communicate with them by learning their language, Spanish. The Salad Bowl Theory, which is the theory a person can be an American with American culture and keep respect and celebrate their ethnic culture, is definitely in effect today. Many schools in the country teach you different languages, like, Spanish and French so we can communicate others. The Salad Bowl Theory is a good idea because compared to the Melting Pot, were the minority culture gives up their culture you can keep your culture. The Hispanics that still speak Spanish, today, are impacting Americans by making us learn Spanish. In 2050, the Salad Bowl Theory will make our Country a better place.
As a Salad Bowl, our culture is different and unique compared to any other country due to our vast variety of people. We should continue to be a Salad Bowl because we learn about other people’s culture and backgrounds. An example of that is a present day classroom. At St. Luke’s we are required to learn another language, and in your senior year, you can take a course to learn about other cultures. Also, when I was in 5th grade, St. Luke’s had an International Night to celebrate and recognize all the different cultures there are. It was really fun to learn about other people backgrounds and ethnicity. If we were a Melting Pot, we would probably not do any of those things and only recognize American Culture. Our country should be a multi-lingual country. Thanks to The Salad Bowl Theory, Our culture is unique and different.
If we let Muslims into our country without being afraid of them, since many people categorize them with terrorist, we will be able to understand them better. We will also learn to get over those fears when you see people with turbans in airports and not think of them as terrorist if we understand Muslims. Another way to respect Muslims in letting them build the mosque in New York, we will know more about Muslims and let them know that us, Americans respect them and their religious practice. Letting Muslims into our country will let us understand them better.
The Salad Bowl theory is a good theory because it makes our “American Culture” different because we will have different cultures in our country. As we look into the future, I believe the Salad Bowl will still be in effect.

Google Chrome
Google Chrome is the best internet browser ever. It is fast, and you can even customize it and pick pretty themes like the below!! There are thousands of themes you can pick and I haven't found a theme i Havn't liked.
The main reason why I am in LOVE with Google Chrome is you can go "Incongnito" (Look Below)Going incognito doesn't affect the behavior of other people, servers, or software. Be wary of:
- Websites that collect or share information about you
- Internet service providers or employers that track the pages you visit
- Malicious software that tracks your keystrokes in exchange for free smileys
- Surveillance by secret agents
- People standing behind you

Homecoming!!
Homecoming Is the best part of the school year!! You can hang out with your friends and watch your team win (or lose)!! Last week was homecoming and I do have to admit, It was quite fun and amazing! So there was quite a few boy issues, looking at the hot guys but I became closer to my besties!! Even though our team lost all of the games, ( Varsity Soccer=Lost, Varsity Volleyball= Lost etc...) It was still fun to cheeer on our team. During the half time of our football game, we even had a chace to win and I PAD!!! Which, I didn't win but, I don't regret trying!
For my Best Friend, this was the day the guy she liked wouldn't go out with her which made her mad! You gotta love Junior High School, Drama is at its highest points and puberty is happening which makes everything a really big deal. Last week was definetly the best part of this year (so far) and I can't wait for next homecoming!!!Taylor Swift

This is a big change of topics from yesterday but today I am going to talk about Taylor Swift. Just the way she sings her songs, with passion and emotion makes everybody want to fall in love with the blond county queen. Her two albums are both platinum and she has won Grammy's. This girl is amazing and is a great role model for everybody. My favorite song is Change because it is really inspiring. Below are the lyrics.

Science Class
Today in Science, we had to do an expirement on which way a piece of jellied toast falls. Basically, My Science teacher dropped a piece of toast and it fell jelly side down and she wanted to know why it fell jelly side down. Below is the Lab Report.
Jelly Side Up
Introduction:
The purpose of this experiment was to see if jellied toast fell jelly side down all of the time. If jellied toast falls from a 3 foot surface and has different amounts of jelly, then the heavier (18 grams) will fall jelly side down 60% of the time because the jelly will weigh it down. When it is lighter (8, 12, and 14 grams) it will fall jelly side up 65% of the time because it is lighter.
Materials:
4 pieces of Shaws white bread (toasted)
1 garbage bag (cut)
52 grams of Stop and Shop Grape Jelly
4 small Dixie paper cups
Procedure:
1) Measure jelly into 18, 14, 12 and 8 grams in a Dixie cup. Spread the jelly onto four pieces of toast (toasted). Label the bread so you know how much jelly is on each
2) Put down a cut up garbage bag
3) Put toast on a 3 foot surface a push it off the surface. Try to keep you push the same each time.
How the Jelly Toast Fell:

Conclusion:

When it is lighter (8, 12, and 14 grams) it will fall jelly side up 65% of the time because it is lighter. This hypothesis was false because in the data, the jelly side down fell down more often. Our percentages were off. On all the pieces of toast except for the one with 8 grams of jelly, the toast fell jelly side down more than 5 times more than it fell down. The toast with the 8 grams of jelly fell jelly side up more times than down which supported our hypothesis. Some errors are that we jellied the bread on a different day which made the jelly soak into the bread which might have impacted the final results. Also, one of our pieces of toast had mold on it from sitting out too long. If I were to do this experiment again, I would do the experiment the same day I jellied the toast.
